Lord Buddha Koshi Medical College & Hospital (LBKMCH), Saharsa was conceived by Lord Buddha Shiksha Pratisthan, a Buddhist-minority society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Reg. No. 033/2002-03), Government of Bihar.
The institution's healthcare journey predates the establishment of the medical college. The hospital developed as an important healthcare institution serving Saharsa and the wider Koshi region, providing the clinical foundation for its subsequent academic development.
A new chapter began in 2019, when Lord Buddha Koshi Medical College & Hospital received its first permission for MBBS education with an intake of 100 seats. Since then, the medical college has continued to expand its undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programmes.
Today, LBKMCH brings together medical education and comprehensive tertiary healthcare through a modern medical college and a 1025-bedded teaching hospital.
Affiliated with Bihar University of Health Sciences, Patna and regulated by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the institution continues its commitment to developing competent, ethical and compassionate healthcare professionals.
